Made in the UK

paper

He picked up various types of paper found lying around the UK and assembled the pieces to create the form of a map of the UK. Among the carelessly scattered trash of Manhattan, the paper that is consumed in large quantities - flyers, fast food wrappers, magazines, etc. - symbolizes the scrap-and-build process in which buildings and people are constantly replaced. The abstract colors created by assembling these pieces represent the chaos of the city, and the petal-shaped pieces that proliferate within it express the uncertainty of the city's existence - what one might call "delicate, like petals that scatter when blown."

After pasting the artwork on various streets in the UK, the rain caused it to turn back into city litter.

Although the environment of the city always influences us and interacts with us, the existence of the city itself is conceptual and can not be grasped. In that premise, how can I represent the sense of incongruity that I receive while staying in UK? This work and its process are contemporary Site specific art capturing such an abstract sense.

I picked up various kinds of paper from street in UK, and created a UK map form by the assembly of pieces. Among UK garbage that is scattered indefinitely, paper that is consumed and fast-food store's wrapping paper, magazines, etc. that are consumed in large quantities are symbols of scrap-and-build where buildings and people are constantly changing. The abstract color created by such a collection of pieces is the city's chaos, and the petal-like pieces that grow in it are the uncertainty of the existence of the city - as we say "If these are blown, it will be scattered like delicate flowers ".

After pasting to various streets of UK, this work turned into garbage in the city again due to rain.
