六甲山で毎年行われる「六甲ミーツ・アート芸術散歩2019」への出展作品。
六甲山の北西地域には、神功皇后が金の鶏を埋めたという伝説がある。村が衰えた時でないかぎり掘り出してはならないとされた金の鶏。私はその鶏をプラスチックという現代的な素材でできた金の花びらを寄せ集めることで形作った。池の中央でこちらを見つめるような金の鶏の強い存在感と、それとは対照的に伝説がいまや花びらにように儚いという現実。作品はこの 2 つの側面を表現している。また、芸術祭期間中は来場者を船に乗せ、池の栄枯衰退と山の歴史を伝える遊覧ツアーを行い、場所が内包する歴史や時間を感じる機会をつくった。
"The cock" was made for Rokko Meets Art 2019.
The Rokko mountain, where the place of "Rokko Meets Art", has a legend that the gold cock was buried and we can dig it up only when the disaster happens. This work was inspired by its story.
A large quantity of gold plastic flowers, cut and folded by my hands, express our primitive fear of traditions or legends − like a lot of tide omikuji (fortune) in Japanese Shinto shrine. On the other hand, the imperfection of abstract sculptures on the water surface are the metaphor of what our emotion to traditions, legends or mythologies we are forgetting in urban cities.
